14 May Dermatix working with Mercy Ships to help improve patient’s lives
Over the past month we have sent Dermatix to the Mercy Ships, we were very pleased to hear that Dermatix is now being used on board to help improve patient’s lives.
The Mercy Ships are an international faith-based organisation with a mission to increase access to health care throughout the world. Mercy Ships uses hospital ships to transform the lives of individuals and serve nations, one at a time. Through the deployment of the world’s largest charity hospital ship, the Africa Mercy, Mercy Ships works with host nations to help fill the gaps in health care systems, while serving the immediate needs of their population.
The sample of “Dermatix Ultra” topical silicone gel has been used with one patient from Mercy Ships for facial scarring. She has a burn injury to her face, arms and hands, which was caused by a gas flam 10 years ago. She had surgery on 30th contractures from the burn around her mouth.
We started using the silicone gel on 26th been using the gel twice a day as instructed. She has noticed some difference and believes the scarring appears and feels smoother. The minimum period of use is at least two months and she will continue with this treatment. (Enclosed is a photo taken on the day she first applied the gel).
The silicone sheet fabric samples (1 inch squares x 30 pieces) have been used on scars from burn contracture releases in the axilla, neck and fingers. The gel conforms well in these areas and stays in place.
The time frame to fully evaluate the products has been short but with the samples used there has been positive feedback.
