What is a scar?

When skin becomes wounded, be it through surgery or by accident or disease, scars develop as a natural part of the healing process. Their repair depends on various factors, including age, genetics and location on the body among others.

Natural process though it is, scarring can cause depression, social anxiety and low self-esteem. But the passing of time no longer need be the only way to improve the appearance of scars.

“Scars needn’t be a cause of depression, social anxiety or low self-esteem”

What can I do?

Available in a range of silicone based products, Dermatix® is clinically proven to significantly improve the appearance of scars.

What is Dermatix?

Even with time and the best due care and attention, problematic scars can sometimes grow bigger, remain raised, restrict movement and cause discomfort or distress. Dermatix® products can help reduce these effects.

“Dermatix treatments are used and recommended by plastic surgeons and
dermatologists worldwide”

How does it work?

There are two Dermatix® treatment methods – Dermatix® Silicone Sheets and Dermatix® Silicone Gel. Both treatments are used and recommended by plastic surgeons, dermatologists and leading specialists worldwide to effectively treat and reduce scarring.

Option 1: Dermatix® Silicone Sheets
Ideal for wearing on exposed areas, including hands and face, Dermatix® Silicone Sheets are placed directly over the scarred area and provide a unique combination of transparency, flexibility and adhesiveness. Made from silicone and PTFE, the thin Dermatix® Silicone Sheet Clear does not require adhesive aids and can be washed with mild soap and water. The silicone reduces hypertrophic scars whilst the transparency offers minimal sheet visibility.

The thin, self-adhesive and fabric backed Dermatix® Silicone Sheet Fabric is lined on one side with silicone and on the other a smooth, convenient fabric. Reusable and easy to care for, the fabric provides durable comfort under clothes.

Option 2: Dermatix® Silicone Gel

Dermatix® Silicone Gel is clinically tested and proven to soften, flatten and reduce prominent immature scars, relieving the pain and discomfort associated with them and should be rubbed into the affected area immediately after the scar has healed. Easily applied to most areas of the body, Dermatix® Silicone Gel is supplied in a 15g or 60g tube (depending on the size of the scar) and can be obtained with or without a prescription.
